SFI Community Grants make a meaningful impact in the communities that live and work near forests. Leaders from the Forest Sector and Non-Profits Volunteer for 
Habitat Greater Ottawa Build to Support Indigenous Youth

The Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) is bringing together forest sector and non-profit leaders to volunteer on a Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa build. “This build is a chance for us to address important issues like Indigenous housing and youth empowerment. We envision a world that values and benefits from sustainably managed forests. Using sustainable forest products while building a sense of community and opportunity supports our mission,” says Paul Robitaille, SFI’s Manager of Indigenous and Youth Relations.

Project Learning Tree Canada Applauds Updated Federal Government Strategy to Address Barriers to Youth Employment

Project Learning Tree Canada (PLT Canada) applauds the federal government for modernizing and streamlining its Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS) program to better meet the needs of young people seeking jobs in today’s challenging labour market. SFI Conservation Grants Feature Collaboration From 52 Different Groups Across the US and Canada

The Sustainable Forestry Initiative Inc. (SFI) announced five conservation grants today that will build on SFI’s commitment to conservation and increase our knowledge about the conservation benefits associated with forests influenced by the SFI Forest Management Standard and SFI Fiber Sourcing Standard. These grants feature collaboration between SFI and a robust group of partners and experts from 52 organizations to advance SFI’s innovative Conservation Impact Project in the United States and Canada.

SCS Now Offers Certification to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative’s Chain of Custody Standard

Emeryville, Calif., Mar 12, 2019 - SCS Global Services (SCS) is pleased to announce that it is now offering chain of custody certification to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) Chain of Custody Standard. SFI is a leading, credible certification in North America for responsible forest products. This new service offering leverages SCS as a one-stop shop for the wood and paper industries, providing clients with increased efficiency for dual and triple chain of custody certification to the major three forest sustainability standards. SCS is also currently undergoing accreditation for, and will soon be offering certification services for SFI Forest Management and SFI Fiber Sourcing Standards.

SFI and AFF Join Forces to Grow Family Lands Certification

Washington D.C. - We are pleased to announce that the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and the American Forest Foundation (AFF) have formed a new partnership to grow the amount of certified family and other small holdings in North America. Through this partnership, SFI and AFF are working together on a Small Lands Group Certification Module (Module), an innovative way to grow certified family lands and small holdings by building on the foundation of SFI's Fiber Sourcing Standard, and drawing on the strengths of the American Tree Farm System (ATFS) forest management standard.

Project Learning Tree Curriculum Wins Teachers’ Choice Award Special 25% Discount To Be Offered for the Holidays

Project Learning Tree’s (PLT) Energy in Ecosystems curriculum for grades 3-5 has been selected a Learning® Magazine 2019 Teachers’ ChoiceSM Award (TCA) for the Classroom winner. Winners, including products from Scholastic and National Geographic, were selected by a nationwide panel of teacher-judges who review books, classroom supplies, educational games, software, websites, and supplemental materials that teachers need for their classroom. This award, announced at the SFI Annual Conference, recognizes SFI Program Participants and individuals across the U.S. and Canada who drive conservation results through partnerships.
